Nature's Choice Wood: The Heat Treatment process in brief

Nature's Choice wood is an industrial scale heat-treatment process for wood that was developed in Finland and has been used extensively in Europe since the mid- 1990’s. Using specially designed kilns, with Stellac Technology, the wood is heated at high temperatures to decompose the food sources naturally found in wood and remove much of the moisture needed for fungi and micro-organisms to grow. The results are a uniform coloration throughout the wood, which lasts longer and performs better.
